Fusion Photography and Cinema Techniques
I like to say that video is the future of photography. Every year more and more photographers are discovering the video capabilities of their DSLRs and experimenting with Fusion Photography. The mix of photos, motion pictures, original sounds and music should be the most powerful tool at our reach and, yet, Fusion doesn’t seem to be working. Why? Well, if you ask me, I say it’s because it lacks storytelling.
I have worked in the cinema industry as a professional video editor and own a degree in social communications – radio and TV as well as a master in cinema studies. I have created ‘Basic Filmmaking + Video Editing for Photographers’ to attend a demand from the photography market, but also because I believe we need to raise the standards of the industry when it comes to videography. During a 2 full-days workshop we will discuss what is fusion photography, how you can incorporate it into your photography workflow and how to improve it by making use of cinema techniques. We will learn how to create a film, from conception and development of an idea to the exporting of a final edited movie.

“I’d been trying to do some Final Cut editing on my own and I never had the power to finish anything because it was soooo complicated to do what I wanted. And I knew I wanted to provide my clients with more than just pictures. When I heard Maira was a cinematographer AND an amazing person, I saw the oportunity of learning everything right. Our two day course flew by and I’ve FINALLY made peace with my Final Cut and learned a lot about cinema techniques I had never thought about before. If you are looking into working with fusion or thinking of offering the “little extra” to your clients, I’d recommend booking a course with Maira. You will definitely not regret it!”

“I couldn’t believe I would get to know the craft of Fusion Film this well after a 2 days course only. It must be the magic way that Maira Martins teaches. Maira was not withdrawing any mistakes that she has done herself, which made a great shortcut for all of us AND she is a lovely person with a lot of humour. I call her a “Doula”. She helped me give birth to my first ever scripted, filmed, photographed and edited movie. Her love reaches days before the course started and for a lifetime after. Thank you so much Maira!”
