Mom helped me make beans in the Instant Pot! I have made lentils a few times, but failed at beans. Mom shared her “secret sauce” and the beans turned out delicious! It’s the step I needed to stop buying the cooked ones in glass jars and start making my own from dried beans.
🍿 Watched the Spanish movie La Viuda Negra (A widow’s game). We wanted to watch it first because of the main actress, Carmen Machi – she is in ALL the Spanish movies, all of them! Once it started we realized it was based on a true crime that happened here in Valencia, so it was extra exciting and baffling.
🍿 Watched Nosferatu (2024) and it was so bad I don’t even want to spend any energy complaining. I’ve seen the original 1922 movie, and I’ve read Bram Stoker’s Dracula twice. And I have also seen the Exorcist, so do not understand how both stories got mixed up in this one horribly written, poorly edited, badly acted movie. Awful, just awful.
Signed up for Posteo and Addy and Infomaniak! It took me ages to move in this direction, I was really dreading moving away from my ancient gmail and google calendar, but I’m glad I’m doing it. I’ve been using the same email address for over 15 years, for everything. Personal emails, banking, online shopping, social media, signing up for crappy newsletters just to get that one crappy ebook… Now I’m finally moving away from google’s hegemony, supporting European businesses and values, and cleaning up my online mess! 💚
🍿 Watched Liam Neeson’s Naked Gun. It was fun and a good homage to the originals.
I was craving sushi but didn’t want to order online or go into town, so I improvised a FABULOUS sushi bowl at home! Loosely followed this recipe, but used what we had at home = canned tuna! 🍣
Took a very important step and changed vets! I’ve been taking them to the same vet for 6 years, but some things were starting to annoy me. I kept going out of… I don’t know, a sense of loyalty to the vet?! He’s very knowledgeable but I was finding the clinic a bit dirty, things were broken, he doesn’t have an assistant… And recently I learned he’s been overcharging me (probably all of his clients) by 2x or 3x the normal rates. I feel so stupid! A neighbour even warned me last year and I defended the vet, instead of listening to her! Well, now I finally took them to a different vet clinic and I’m just shocked at how the level of attention we received. And kicking myself in the butt for all those wasted years. 🐶
Received my calendars with photos of Astro and Luna for 2026! They are ADORABLE and the dog’s grandmothers are super happy with the small gift! 🐶📅
