😍 My mom flew back to Brazil – his mom had gone back to Sweden a couple weeks ago. We are finally alone at home in Valencia, for the first time in three months, just the two of us and our dogs, and it feels good!
🎨 I’m really excited about my illustrated journal. I’m using a super cheap notebook with 90gsm paper, a waterproof pen (uniball ub150) and coloring pencils. If I keep up with the habit, I’ll give myself a nice journal for next year, with thicker paper. Why wait for next year? Even though I’m a beginner, I deserve a beautiful book with good paper. My research led me to Royal Talens Art Creation: beautiful, high-quality, cheap (cheaper at local art supply stores than on amazon)!
🎨 Bought Danny Gregory’s course Start your sketchbook journal. The course has 31 lessons (designed to be one month long, a lesson per day) and includes journal prompts, composition tips, and lots of creative exploration.
✍️ Restarted the book You Can Draw in 30 Days, which I first tried in 2017. I’m doing the exercises in my little illustrated journal. I don’t want my journal to be a sketchbook per se, I want it to be an actual diary (a place where I document my days and work on my emotions), but I am loving the A5 format and thought it’d be nice to keep it all together in these first months of this experiment.
🚗 The Driving Ed. people got in touch and I’m starting my practical driving lessons this Monday! I’m TERRIFIED! Negative thoughts and memories of my accident 20 years ago keep resurfacing. I keep telling myself I can do this. In fact, I already did it many years ago, I already passed this stupid test once (I stopped driving for fear). I’ve done so many harder things in my life since then! I can do this!!!
🍿Watched Unfrosted. Loved it! I don’t get the bad reviews. It’s a silly movie, it’s not supposed to be a documentary or an art installation or teach life lessons. Some people take themselves so seriously, they lost their ability to laugh. If you are open to laughing and being a bit like a child again, then life will be great and movies like this will make Saturday night a joy!
🍿Watched A House of Dynamite. I liked it. The different perspectives, each time a different character in focus, their personal struggles, the damned zoom calls and tech issues, the pressure, the escalation… Very good editing, really liked the pace. I saw people complaining about the ending… I mean, do we really need to see what happens? Isn’t it extremely obvious?
