Solar Eclipse
The ECLIPSE was amazing, incredible, something I won't ever, ever forget! I feel so lucky to have seen it with my own eyes!
It is just so hard to describe with words, and photos and videos don't do it justice (just like with the Aurora Borealis). It needs to be SEEN. Access to our favuorite spot for astrophotography was limited on that day, so we just drove around until we found a spot with the right orientation. Parked our car, made ourselves and our dog comfortable, opened a bottle of delicious alcohol-free wine and enjoyed the views! π
I didn't want to buy an ND solar filter for any of my cameras (they cost over 60β¬) so our solution was to tape one of our eclipse glasses to my husband's old phone. While the camera itself is not great, the hack worked and we got some nice photos to remember! I put my xiaomi on a small tripod pointing at us and made a timelapse video using manual exposure. My video got 100% black during the totality phase, lol. Next time I might try auto exposure, but won't that defeat the purpose?! Humm...
