The Shepherd Plays, Tatiana Salutrinskaya

I first learned "The Shepherd Plays" (or "The Shepherd's Flute") a couple months ago, following the progression of the Russian piano method book we use at PCA.

Recently I realised the score was in my Keith Snell Grade 1 repertoire book -- with pedal markings! I haven't really learned to use the pedals yet, so I was super excited to give it a try. πŸ˜€

Tatiana Salutrinskaya was a Russian/Soviet pianist and composer. Sadly, as is often the case with female composers, not much is known about her life. This is what I could find on her.

This content was originally published in August 2022. I'm republishing this in April 2026 and backdating to keep my piano progress posts in chronological order.
