Drinks by the pool at Carneiros beach resort. We had caipirinha de cajá, caipiroska de cajú, and some insanely delicious deep fried tempura shrimps filled with cream cheese!

Recife Food

Between working/studying, visiting relatives, going out, beach, countryside, and bureaucracies I had to fight, there's not much time left to sketch during this trip to Brazil. Before coming, I thought I'd be able to sit everyday, to take the notebook everywhere, to sketch while drinking a caipirinha. Well. Maybe next time. But at least I'm trying to sit down once a week to sketch from photos or from imagination!

Here's a small sample of things we ate during our first week in my hometown.

Sea Turtle

On our first weekend in Brazil we went to our family flat at Praia dos Carneiros. The beach is wonderful, still a bit wild, and we saw a ton of sea stars and even sea turtles! It was incredible to see, but very hard to photograph, there were a few turtles and they would just randomly peak their noses basically anywhere in a 100m stretch of beach. We also went snorkelling in Maragogi's coral reefs, where we saw a ton of beautiful fish. I had no camera on me. So here's a page of my sketchbook documenting what I saw :)

Sagüi Family

Currently in my hometown in Brazil and I have seen so many wonderful animals, plants, fruits already. I saw this little family of Sagüis (tiny monkeys) four days in a row, the father always moved first, jumping from branch to branch, tree to tree, closely followed by the mother and their TWO babies on her back!!

The more time I spend with my sketchbook

The more time I spend with my sketchbook, the less I want to be online. It's all so boring, blogging, reddit, youtube, all of it. I want to be all the time in the real analog world, with paper and pen, my cameras, my piano, gardening, baking. I'm so tired of the internet, it's not fun anymore.
