June 2026: The end of the weeknotes
| 6 min read
I decided to stop the fortnightly weekly updates. When I started doing weeknotes, it felt like a great way to write short updates on movies seen, books read, things done. I had just started blogging on micro.blog back then and didn't want to "spam" the Discovery feed with these kind of short updates.
Eventually, I bought a five-year journal that does the exact same thing for me but on pen and paper, so the weeknotes started feeling more like a chore. I also used the weeknotes as a lazy excuse to not write other posts โ why write several paragraphs on my experience driving in Spain, when I could write a couple lines as a bullet point?
I don't feel the notes are adding value to me or to anyone else (maybe my mom?!). Honestly, I grew tired of reading other's weeknotes too. I decided to switch to a monthly recap format for now, we'll see how this goes.
Highlights
- ๐ Luna's canine tooth fell! She had a bad tooth and a receding gum, and the vet had mentioned we should schedule a surgery to extract this tooth. Last Saturday she was playing with another dog in our garden, hit her head on a chair and PLOFT, the tooth fell out. She didn't seem to notice, though. She kept playing, running and trying to steal food. The vet said thinks probably had caries as there was no root anywhere to be seen and the tooth itself was hollow.
- ๐ต The last heat wave hit us with temperatures of 37ยฐC. Amazon Prime Days happened right during this time, so I bought sunscreen at 50% off. Two La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVMune400 50+ and two Eucerin Oil-Control 50.
- Mini-travel! ๐ We were only a week on the road, but going to Costa Brava, Carcassonne and Narbonne earlier in the month was very nice.
- I've managed to organize, keyword, tag faces, cull, edit and print two photo albums of my travels this month, with a 3rd one in progress. Costa Brava 2026 and Sardinia 2024 are looking great in their little physical albums. ๐ท
- Purchased photo paper for my brother inkjet A3 printer! Why did I never think of this? Now I can print larger photos to frame, in addition to my Selphy 10x15cm and the cute Instax Wide prints. ๐จ๏ธ
- โฝ World Cup 2026 is going on. Brazil just won a hard match against Japan last night and is going forward in the competition. A mega-classic Brazil x Argentina is definitely on the table!
- ๐ Went with friends to Champions Burger, a burger competition in the Mestalla stadium. We were a group of seven people and each of us bought a different burger to share with the group, so we all got to try a bit of everything!
- ๐ท Eating out: this month we ate at Bistrot Le Guinguet and Les Grands Buffets, both in Narbonne. Back in Valencia, we ate Mexican at La Chingada, Italian at Latte e Farina, and a simple menรบ degustaciรณn at Saona.

Blog
- I wrote 11 posts this month โ 12 if we count this one!
- I shared the drawings and photos of my trip to Costa Brava and Narbonne early in the month.
- An email exchange inspired me to write two posts about personal experiences and asking for clarification.
- Worked on a new Books page and documented my process!
- I joined Junited for the first time and highlighted some really nice posts by other bloggers throughout the month.
Piano Progress
- Working on piece no. 111 "รtude" of The Russian School of Piano Playing method book, trying to speed up my rendition. I can currently play it at moderato to allegretto (130bpm), but my teacher plays this closer to vivace or presto (200bpm). Slooooowly making progress, 10bpm at a time.
- Started working on piece no. 114 "Chinese song". Super cute but it also needs playing fast. This is my biggest problem at this point, speed. My fingers simply collapse if I play anything from medium and above.

Media
Movies & TV
- ๐บ Watched season 1 of Murderbot.
- ๐ฟ Watched Disclosure Day in the movie theater.
- ๐บ Started season 2 of Murder Mindfully.
- ๐ฟ Watched Rental Family.
- ๐บ Started watching my first Chinese series, Fated Hearts. Fell in love, watched 3 episodes in a row, told my husband it was like the Game of Thrones of China, which might have been a slight exaggeration on my part. He absolutely HATED it, lol. The funny thing is, when I re-watched the first episode with him, I started to notice a few odd things with the lightning and an ever-so-present wind machine blowing people's hairs. Episode 4 introduced a ton of "comical" sound effects which are really terrible and not funny at all, they just cheapen the whole thing. So it's just, like, a Chinese soap-opera set in ancient times. I'm less excited about it now, but I think I will continue and watch all 38 episodes. We'll see.
Reading
- Bought Market Wizards: The Next Generation, which just came out this month. I'm specially excited because three traders I've been following for years are featured in this volume! Now my MZ series is almost complete, with only one title missing (the one with the hedge fund traders).
- Back to my Agatha Christie reading project, slowly going since 2017. Currently reading A Murder is Announced.
