Junited 2026
| 6 min read
Junited is a little blog-loving adventure where the blogging community gets together to share posts they enjoy and discover new bloggers along the way.
I am joining Junited for the first time! During the month of June I'll update this post with links to content that interested/moved/inspired/baffled me. Let's blog :)
Just put it on your blog by Shellsharks -- This is what I'd like to do with my blog, but don't yet have the courage/workflow/habit/something. It's the first link on my list, because it motivates me.
Ask for clarification by Imperfect -- Sometimes we read between the lines, we get lost in translation, we assume the worst. Asking for clarification is a simple fix to a lot of misunderstandings -- be they at work, like in the post, among friends, or in a multicultural family, like in my case!
Posts I did not write in one go by Joel -- I loved how unfinished drafts became an actual blog post. This one resonated with me because I have a markdown file with over 30 ideas for posts and another 5 unfinished drafts!
AI Economics for Dummies by Andrew Singleton (McSweeneys) -- I laughed. The examples offered are so ridiculous and yet, that's exactly what the big AI companies are doing: a ton of over-promise, under-deliver.
Emotions Traders Don't Talk About by Brett Steenbarger (TraderFeed) -- Brett is a psychologist who specializes in trading, but his insights apply to everybody, I think. He writes down his thoughts on a theme over a week, then publishes it on Mondays -- a bit like Weeknotes, but thematic. There's always something that resonates.
Grave Concerns by Danny Gregory -- I've been following Danny for some years now. He went through personal tragedies that most of us can't even start to imagine, and he found his way back to happiness through his illustrated journals. Now he shares his thoughts in written form too. This one is about death.
Structured Procrastination by philosophy professor John Perry -- This is not a new blog post by any means, as it was first written in 1995! I've had a printed copy of this for a couple years now. Whenever I read it, I feel inspired and come up with different ways I will organize my photos some day or lists of blog posts I will write, when I eventually get to it... As I just sharpened a pencil and refilled two fountain pens instead of writing my weeknotes, this text came to mind again. Enjoy.
Can't blog? Blog. by Robert Birming -- Another motivation for me to start blogging and writing and sharing and connecting. I'm not there yet, something in me still feels insecure and shy.
My love for salads spans decades by ForNoOne -- I've always hated salads, something about chewing boring leaves always made me feel it was more appropriate for a horse than a human. Not that I am into meat, not at all. I am really into bread and pasta and cheese. But age happens, and my body started demanding salad, pure and simply. This post inspired me to try a few different combos of flavours.
Weeknotes 40 by Anhvn -- They completed the painting challenge "En Plein Airpril" and commented a little on how it went, what were the challenges, how their illustration work improved. I liked the results a lot.
Proof of Purchase: 2006 - 2006 by Kate (KBBBlog) -- Twenty years of daily purchase drawings just turned into a book. The illustrations are delightful, really inspiring to me as a beginner. It goes to show we don't need huge travels and themes to draw (or write about!). Tylenol, AA batteries, a new dress or roll-on deodorant can be just as wonderful as subjects. I also highly recommend her post on how it all started.
My Neighbour tells me I am Crazy! by Forking Mad+ -- It resonated because I too have an elderly neighbour I love. Mine invites me periodically for a tour of her little herb garden, once tried to gift me an old moldy aquarium, gave me duck eggs claiming they were great for libido and that they still had an effect on her 91yo husband (LOL), invited me to spend Mother's Day at her place with her own children, taught me to cook paella, got me and my husband to drink wine and eat jamón on a Sunday at 10am.
Farm Log #10 by Andrew -- I love those garden updates. In theory, the weather here in Valencia should be good for gardening year round, so the issue probably lies on my lack of gardening skills or lack of luck. I haven't been able to grow lettuce, they got too leggy; the zucchini didn't pollinate; Mediterranean fruit flies attacked the oranges; once I solved this issue, rats ate the rest of the oranges; whatever survived, was covered in aphids. Tomatoes and strawberries were eaten by my dog Luna. We built a fenced area for the tomatoes, but someone else ate them (birds, lizards, rats, a neighbour? No idea). This year I kind of gave up, there's only basil growing. Andrew's farm logs make me: A) full of envy; and B) hopeful I can get better at this, someday.
Space, the ultimate "No way!" by Fran - I love space and science. Husband and I have a decent dark-sky spot about 1h30 from us, where a few institutions have Observatories, and we go there from time to time to photograph the Milky Way or just to lay down on the ground and look at the stars. I loved this post by Fran, where they share a ton of facts about space, some of which I didn't know! This other post is also a really cool read.
Update 2026-06-26: I have added a small blurb next to each link, clarifying why I think those posts are great :)
